Grant, Clement Rollins

(1849-1893) Clement R. Grant was born in Freeport, Maine. He studied in England in 1867 but returned to Boston, where he exhibited at the Boston Art Club from 1877. Grant was an accomplished painter who worked in both oils and watercolors, and is known for his figural paintings, portraits, landscapes, coastal scenes, genre, and interior scenes. He was also an etcher and supported himself by making print reproductions of famous paintings. He was a member of the New York Etching Club and exhibited at the National Academy of Design and the Paris Salon.
